About The Competition

This competition is the first Hong Kong wide student investment competition jointly held by 3 student societies at HKU, CUHK and HKUST.

It aims to connect students who are interested in stock investment and equip them with the ability to do equity research and pitch their ideas. At the same time, it serves as a great opportunity for students to build connections with industry professionals.

Event Timeline and Deliveries

1. Application Period / 29 Mar (Wed) - 9 Apr (Sun) 11:59 PM HKT

Participants are required to fill in the Alpha Investment Competition Application Form before the deadline

2. Information Session / 5 Apr (Wed) 8:00 - 9:00 PM HKT

Detail information will be introduced to the participants in the session, including the format of the stock pitch, timeline, prize, selection criteria

3. Preliminary Round Submission Date / 18 Apr (Tue) 11:59 PM HKT

Participants are required to submit the stock pitch deck before the deadline

4. Preliminary Round Result Announcement / 22 Apr (Sat)

After a series screening process done by project teams, we will announce the finalist by email

5. Final Round Presentation / 29 Apr (Sat)

Finalist teams need to polish their deck and present their deck in the in-person final presentation in front of industry professionals

FAQs

Q: What are the team requirements? Can members be from different schools?

A: 4 students in a team, and members in the same team can be from different schools.

Q: What stocks can my team pitch?

A: You can only select one stock listed on a stock exchange in the US / Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan) / Japan / Korea region that has a market capitalization of at least US$1 billion.

Q: How can I sign up for the competition?

A: Please fill in the Alpha Investment Competition Application Form to sign up for the competition.

Q: How can I receive up-to-date information regarding the stock pitch challenge?
A: You can check out the website or CUIRS Investment Research, HKU Trading Group, and Traders@UST's LinkedIn for the most up-to-date information.

Q: Must all team members be physically present during the Final Round Presentation?

A: All team members must be physically present during the Final Round Presentation, in HKU in front of a panel of judges.

Q: How many team will be shortlisted to the Final Round Presentation?

A: A maximum of 6 will be shortlisted to the Final Round Presentation.
